We were just wanting a couple of muffins and some takeaway coffees but the woman at the counter said to sit down for table service. We sat down and watched 5-6 other sets of people get takeaway coffees from the counter. Not sure why we were different? We ordered 3 coffees, 3 brownies and 1 piece of cake which all came to $51. The cake alone costing $13.50. We were horrified. The coffee was second rate which added to our displeasure. We decided after that to go into the city for lunch. Unimpressed at the ridiculous prices - we will never eat there again.

Anyway, the bad food I could write off to experience, but VERY bad service - no. We reluctantly lifted our baby out of high chair and began to move outside with high chair to sit in public seating (in park) whilst hearing the horrible waiter rudely ordering elderly diners out. Then horrible waiter chased after us, laughing like a maniac and yelling, "lady you can't take high chair with you, ha ha ha!" So weird and shocking, I'm lost for words. I told said waiter his attitude was appalling to which he laughed, said he didn't care what I thought and walked off. I asked for my money back and showed him my warm 'iced' coffee and stale cake and was told was a no refund policy. Went to counter and demanded refund. Female waitress reluctantly refunded - partially. I have worked in HR management in hospitality industry for many years and can honestly say that was I experienced yesterday is the most diabolical service I have ever experienced. To think this café serves our visiting tourists and has potential to set the worst possible impression on valued guests to our city. I plan to report incident to Council with hope they will take action however in interim felt need to warn anyone thinking of going in there to be careful. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect - and hospitality as a term derives from the word hospitable. 'Simon' - the horrible waiter needs to take this on board or find another job as should not be dealing with the public if he does not have the capacity to be polite and civil at the very least.

$47 for two coffees, a milkshake and two slices of cake. There was conveniently no prices on the cakes in the cabinet and we did not expect to pay $14.50 for a small slice of cake. I rang back to complain the next day and the staff said they had new cakes and had not made the signs up yet. Judging by the multiple, terrible reviews here on Google I think it was more likely that this was deliberate. $5 is a little more than average for a coffee so we did not think that two cakes would cost us almost $30. We really couldn't afford that and I will complain to consumer affairs about a lack of signage. If all other items were on the menu why were the cake prices not on the menu or in the cake cabinet? They even have the food and drinks menu available to download online but the cakes are absent from this price list too.

Found the waitress extremely rude. Terrible experience and was overcharged. Each slice of cake was $13.50. Very disappointing for such a nice setting.

There are people who should never get involved in hospitality and the people running this joint definitely those type of people. No flexibility. No smile. No hospitality... what a shame this place has the potential to be one of the busiest and best place in town.

Horrible, rude, obnoxious waiter (Simon). Very poor quality and incredibly overpriced food and drinks. Dirty floor and tables. Inconsistent operating hours - RUN A MILE! My husband, infant son and I checked opening hours before arrived (meant to close at 4pm). Although arrived at 3:30pm we were pounced on by a flustered older waitress with a French accent and told that the café was about to close and they were only doing take away. Told her we only wanted to order coffee and cake and planned to be gone by 4pm and she reluctantly (?!) took our order. Ordered iced coffees and a carrot cake. Charged $10 for cake which was the size of a cupcake, stale and had been heated up presumably to try to freshen it up (NOTE: NO PRICING displayed anywhere - VERY deceptive). Worse was the 'iced' coffee - which was a warm coffee with a scoop of icecream dumped in it, served in a take away cup. The restaurant was unclean - food on floors under many tables. We started having our food then at 3:50pm - 10 minutes before stated close time a VERY rude - in fact disgustingly rude waiter came up to us and said we "have to leave, NOW because they are closing" and it was not even close time. NOTE: NO visible signage displayed anywhere near register nor entry doors to say anything about last orders taken before 3pm. Parklands tell you open until 4pm. If close early - restaurant has a responsibility to inform patrons.
