The first floor stationary store sales clerk, who is Polish, the usual attentant is away on holidays referred me to a hidden away dematologist/beautician around the corner who also couldn't control her sharp tongue. It seems the jealousy threshold bank balance in Australia is about $1000, which isn't much and most people don't have it, if you read their ATM receipts they chuck on the ground.

I have made my own clothes. But the Couture fabric shop in the ground floor sales clerk assumed I didn't have any money. My consumer habits are unpredictable, buying a $3000 airfare on a whim, but still shop in the dollar and thrift store. Silly lady.

Pretty and air conditioned mall to cut through from Adelaide St to the Queen St mall. Worth a look at the lovely heritage building and store facades. Look at the old lift and see the stained glass. Great photos from the 1st floor looking down.

"It's a special time" she would complement her Jewish client with generalist waffle, never really engaging in detailed conversation about their festivals. She liked their money though.

The Brisbane Arcade is part of The Queen Street Mall and houses high end specialty shops such as The Pen Shop. Pens here range from a reasonably priced Parker to a more lavishly diamond encrusted pen costing thousands. Nice to look at, but I managed to resist the urge.

The quality of the products is some of these shops is very high. But unfortunately money can't buy manners or stop feelings of envy by retailers towards those they serve. A stationary store attendant on the first floor called Prisilla Presley's cosmetic enhancment "clown like". If you are a person of means, and like the interesting array of goods on offer them your might have to grit your teeth, or dream up comic rebuttals they never expected. Be prepared. The first floor stationary shop sells hand painted cards. There is a somewhat psuedo heritage cafe, called "Roses" (something) in the first floor. It's one all these awards. I am not sure why. After years of waitressing in food and beverage in five star properties in the early '90s I do have some authority on the subject. The building is a heritage building, but the interior of the "Roses" cafer compared to the interior of a real heritage building like Parliament house leaves much to the imagination. The green marbled? pilons, are they wall paper or plastic panneling? Is the owner of Roses Cafe friends with the Emporium owner in the basement? The Roses Cafe doesn't cater to vegans, kosher or gluten free much even though it claims to.

There is an antique heirloom evaluator on the first floor. A subliminal sarcastic charmer. I was think of taking an heirloom there but won't be.

There is an excellent florist display on the ground floor which reminds me of my days as a florist in the mid 1990's.

Weeks ago one of the staff in the basement Emporium offered to take me on a tour of the premises. Instead of taking me through the downstairs-hidden-away sequined numbers and other what seems slighty gawdy garments, costume jewelry, caste mold ceramics, paintings, cafe, kitchenware and glance across the room busy on the eyes clutter, ( I worked in two fine art galleries overseas, less is more) She 20 questioned me. I realised she was just using me to spy on me. It wasn't a tour at all. There are secrets in the private schools. I have taught in them.

The pen shop ground floor , Tree of Life and upstairs stationary store must have the nasty disease coursing through their veins. See photos.

There is a third level, hidden stairs around the corner, which takes you to an Alice in Wonderland level of couture jewellery, designers and I think dentists? Why are they hidden? I think to protect the privacy of the upper societal people in Brisbane. Or these people are hiding themselves. A mystery.

Near certified and with a fined arts degree, she liked my designs when the labour was free after two months in her Floristry business located on the fringe of a Jewish suburb in Melbourne.
