Long delay picking up our car at the Brisbane airport. The booked vehicle was not ready and it was 45 minutes before we got our car. The staff commented 'this is our busy hour'. If they are always busy at that time, why not resource properly to cope with the demand? This is no way to run a business, Avis. You have lost me as a customer.

Go elsewhere. Terrible service. We returned the car and there was no staff around. The budget staff tried to help with an accident claim form that I had to fill out as someone had damaged the car in a parking lot, and they barely could help. The duty manager, Owen Collins, refuses to reply to emails at all. They've taken the $4000 excess without giving me a claims number. I have given them all the third party details. 1 month gone and still not a single person has helped me, and no refund. EMailing the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission now

I went to pick up a hire car organised by my insurer and Avis would not accept my type of Queensland vehicle licence because they did not understand the card.

I highly recommend that you DO NOT hire from this company. I hired a car at Brisbane airport for one day. I returned the car the next day on time as agreed. However, the shop had closed early. There was a note on the door advising that customers should call if returning a car. We called the number and were advised to lock up the car and drop the keys in the key safe. All was good until I noticed on my bank statement that I was charged for an extra day hire, extra day insurance and excess cover AND a full tank of fuel even though I had just filled the tank in the gas station next door. I have tried to explain to Avis that they have made an error and that I have proof that I returned the car on time and bought gas a few minutes before the car was returned but they don't seem interested.

I first made contact with Avis about this 21 days ago after four emails and several twitter interactions - they refuse to help.
